Manu is Māori for bird. Our Manu logo is a beautifully crafted Māori kite - ‘Te Manu Tukutuku’. Traditionally Māori believed that the kite represented the spirit of the person flying it, soaring in the sky like a god. For Steve Bird Wines, the kite represents the standard of excellence we aspire to with our winemaking. The pattern on our labels are a traditional Māori art form, used to tell our stories and found adorning the walls of our wharenui (meeting houses). We have taken the symbolic design of tukutuku and applied it to every bottle of our Manu wines, referencing our Bird whānau affiliations with Ngāti Awa that trace our connectedness with the land for over 800 years. As Māori, we hold onto our principles around kaitiakitanga (guardianship) of the land. So, while we are committed to bringing you the best tasting wines, we are also committed to continually improving our craft so that our wines are more sustainable, and our business more environmentally responsible. |

Soft pale-pink with the slightest purple hues. The nose is subtle showing delicate aromas of raspberries and cherries, quince and fragrant flowers. There is a remarkable balance of delicacy and fruit intensity on the palate. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is bright and vibrant, with refreshing acidity balanced by the fruit sweetness and very fine textures.
