For Steve Bird Wines, sustainability is an integral driving force for the business, paving the path of the family’s vision for generations to come. Traditional Māori believed that the earth was the giver of all life. It was accepted that the people who were born on that land inherited the right to produce from it and to protect it for the benefit of all. Looking after the earth and ensuring environmental sustainability for the generations to come is of the utmost importance to Steve Bird Wines. We are constantly refining our processes to ensure they are as sustainable as possible and aligning ourselves with organisations that are dedicated to the same.

Protect our Paradise: The Bird family’s coastal lifestyle in the Bay of Plenty, love of the ocean and active involvement with the local Surf Lifesaving Club meant that partnering with Protect our Paradise, a conservation community in the Bay of Plenty was a very organic decision. Protect our Paradise is committed to removing single use plastics and created a local campaign ‘Destraw or Destroy’, to encourage all hospitality organisations in the BOP to remove plastic straws from their premises.
World Alcohol Beverage Alliance: The World Alcohol Beverage Alliance was established in 2014, and is the first official global alcoholic beverage organisation .
